Yummy eats in Toronto

I created a list of restaurants I would like to experience in Toronto this year and was very excited to kick off the New Year with a trip to La Palette (492 Queen Street West) for a late lunch with my sister.  Serving French cuisine, the restaurant is relaxed and bright with an exposed brick interior and a long wooden bar.  The tables near the front entrance are a great spot for people watching!  Some of the prices are on the higher side so this was a bit of an indulgence.   I ordered the “Poulet” dish consisting of pan roasted chicken with coq au vin sauce, garlic roasted Brussels sprouts, a pumpkin bread pudding ($14).  The chicken was well prepared, very moist and tender.  I have to say, surprisingly, my favourite part of the dish was the bread pudding.  Mixed with cranberries, whole pieces of pumpkin and a decadent and richly flavoured cheese sauce.  No need to order appetizers!  A basket of fresh bread, made in house, is served with s subtle but aromatic red pepper dipping oil.  Note that reservations are highly recommended for dinner service on weekend (http://www.lapalette.ca/).

I haven’t decided which restaurant is next on the list.  Looking forward to more new yummy food experiences!!
